A workshop report whose objectives were to learn from the experiences of the southern African public health community in its fight against drug- resistant TB, and to draw lessons regarding best practices and novel approaches that can be applied both within and beyond the region. The first topic reviews the incidence of drug-resistance TB in Southern Africa, then surveillance and tracking of drug-resistant TB. The following topic looks at transmission and infection control. Then diagnostic and treatment of drug-resistant TB. The last two topics look at drug-resistant TB in children and convergence of science and policy to create a blueprint for action.
