Abstract:

The overall goal of this book is to describe World Vision's strategy which was put in place to contribute to the improvement of the health and nutritional status of women and children in WV operational areas, working in partnership to develop the capacities of national offices (NOs) to design, implement and monitor high impact and cost-effective health, nutrition and HIV and AIDS programmes. Chapter 1 looks at an overview of the Traditional Birth Attendance in the region. Chapter 2 gives the state of nutrition in the East Africa. Chapter 3 is on maternal and child health. The last chapter then describes the community health worker functionality assessments, which are a strong means to strengthen the health system in the region.
