Abstract:

Highlights how media can play a role in HIV/AIDS control. The first section gives an overview of global HIV/AIDS epidemic in this world including a brief on statistics, followed by how media can respond to HIV/AIDS. The book then provides a section on the gender equality and a triangle of denial, stigma and discrimination, as causal factors for the increase of HIV/AIDS. The last chapters suggest: challenging stigma and discrimination; promoting HIV/AIDS services; educating and entertaining; mainstreaming; putting HIV/AIDS on the news agenda and encouraging leaders to take action as well as capacity building, as measures that can help avert HIV/AIDS globally.
