Abstract:

WHO and UNAIDS are monitoring progress in scale-up and impact in Eastern and Southern African countries.As most countries have the key elements of programmes in place, the present report provides an overview of progress by the end of 2010 with a focus on the numbers of MCs performedfor HIV prevention.In support of monitoring and evaluation (M&E), WHO and UNAIDS, in collaboration withPEPFAR, developed A guide to indicators for male circumcision programmes in the formal health care system3 in 2009, suggesting indicators that should be used by countries.
