SCORE Regional Advocacy Training, Sharing & Learning Event for Sex Worker Advocacy Groups (SWAG): Event Report (November 2015)

This report presents a summary of the deliberations from a regional Sex Work Action Group (SWAG) regional advocacy training, learning and sharing event that was conducted in Johannesburg, South Africa. The specific purpose of the regional event was to equip 30 SWAG members with knowledge and skills to advocate for their sexual and reproductive health and rights. The specific objectives of the event were to:
i. Increased understanding of “self” and “body” in relation SRH and HIV risk by sex workers; ii. Greater confidence in articulating and leading on advocacy issues, tools and methods towards better SRH outcomes for sex work community and
iii. Learning and sharing on models for promoting sex worker led advocacy movements.
The document then gives the outcome of this training workshop and the lessons learnt as well as the way forward on challenges.
